MSI Laptop Battery

MSI laptop replacement batteries for Stealth, Raider, Leopard, Vector, Katana, Pulse, Creator and Summit. MSI names its laptops by a letter code and a number, and each code maps to a battery family. Every listing here is marked with its BTY code, the voltage and Wh rating where we have it, and the MSI models it fits.

Find your series letters on the label under your laptop, such as GS66 or GP76, then choose your battery below. MSI sells many models with similar names, so match the full model, including the 10SE or 11UH code at the end.

01 / Find it

Find Your MSI Laptop Battery

  1. Read the model.
The label under the laptop gives the series and number, for example GS66 Stealth 10SE or GP76 Leopard 11UH.
  2. Match the full name.
The code at the end, such as 10SE, 11UE or 12UH, separates generations that share a series name.
  3. Check the rating.
The listing shows the BTY code and, where we have it, the voltage and Wh. They should equal your old battery.

If you cannot read the label, see how to find the right laptop battery or our laptop replacement batteries guide.

MSI Model Letters and Battery Codes

MSI laptop batteries carry a BTY code, and that code follows the series letters on the laptop. The letters in our listings line up like this.

GS
Stealth: GS63, GS65, GS66, GS73, GS75 and GS77. The batteries run from BTY-M6J to BTY-M6M1.
GE
Raider: GE66 and GE76. They use the BTY-M6M, the 99.99Wh battery.
GP
Leopard and Vector: GP66 and GP76. They use the BTY-M57, a 4-cell battery.
GF, GL, WF
Katana, Pulse and workstation-class models. The BTY-M492 covers the Katana, Pulse and WF series, and the BTY-M6K covers the Thin range.
WS, WP
Workstation models. They share batteries with the Stealth and Thin families, so match by model.
P, PS
Creator and Modern models. They appear under the BTY-M6L and BTY-M6M listings.

Several BTY codes begin BTY-M6. They look alike and they are not interchangeable: the BTY-M6J is 11.4V and 64.98Wh, the BTY-M6K is 11.1V and 52.4Wh and the BTY-M6L is 15.2V and 80.25Wh.

03 / Stealth

The GS65 and GS75 take the larger 15.2V BTY-M6L, which MSI also uses in some Creator and Modern models. The GS77, with board number MS-17P1, has its own BTY-M6M1.

04 / Raider

MSI Raider and GS66 Replacement Battery

The GE66 Raider, the GE76 Raider and Dragon Tiamat, the GS66 Stealth and the WS66 share the BTY-M6M. It is the largest battery in the collection, at 99.99Wh. That rating sits just under 100Wh, the figure at which airlines start to apply extra rules to lithium batteries, so a spare of this size is easier to travel with. Rules differ by airline and country, and the TSA publishes its guidance for lithium batteries above 100Wh.

Raider, GS66 and WS66 models Battery Rating
GS66 Stealth (10SE, 10SF, 11UE, 11UH)
GE66 Raider (10UG, 11UG)
GE76 Raider (11UE, 11UG), GE76 Dragon Tiamat (11UH)
WS66 (10TM, 11UMT, 11UKT), Creator 15
BTY-M6M 99.99Wh

These laptops run hard, and a worn pack shows up as a short session away from the wall. If yours also struggles to charge, see our MSI laptop adapters.

05 / Leopard and Vector

MSI Leopard and Vector Replacement Battery

The Leopard and Vector GP66 and GP76 take one battery across three model years. The BTY-M57 is a 4-cell pack rated 15.2V, 64Wh and 4280mAh, and the listing covers the Leopard 10UE to 11UH and the Vector 12UE to 12UH. A 12th-generation Vector uses the same battery as a 10th-generation Leopard.

The Thin line, the GF63, GF65 and GF75, takes the BTY-M6K at 11.1V and 52.4Wh. The voltages differ by only 0.3V, but they are different batteries, so order by model.

08 / Fit it

Replacing an MSI Laptop Battery

  1. Power down.
Shut the laptop down fully, unplug the charger and let it cool.
  2. Open the case.
Remove the bottom screws and lift the panel with a plastic tool. Keep the screws in order. Check your warranty terms first, because some warranties do not cover damage from opening the case.
  3. Swap the battery.
Disconnect the old connector, unscrew the pack and fit the new one in the same position. Reconnect it and check it is seated.
  4. Close and charge.
Refit the panel, connect the charger and charge the new battery fully.

Stop using a swollen battery, or one that lifts the case or trackpad, and replace it straight away.
